I was talking about doing an RMA with Netgear.
If you are the original purchaser, the manufacturer's warranty is 3 years. The RN214 was introduced in the fall of 2016, so most owners should still be covered by the warranty.

Hi,
Ok so I called Netgear, and creating a case number #41230668, and sat on the phone, nearly an hour, explaining all this few times to the agent, who spoke toa Senoir Expert 3 times, then was told we'll call you back, ok I said, thanks speak soon.
5 days later I asked for an update on my warranty case via the portal, and got a thanks, sorry it took so long, we need to do troubleshooting as per our policy(err did I mention if I reboot the NICs don't work....), so sorry for inconvienence can you call us, case closed.........
WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry Netgear this is not customer support.
We have a saying in AU, "NOT HAPPY JAN!!!".
Netgear, the product you built is broken after firmware 6.9.3, please fix or replace.

I suggest just telling them that eth0 is broken, and not giving them your idea on the cause. That just muddies the waters.
They likely will insist on going through their troubleshooting - though it seems odd that they would actually close the case. JohnCM_S, can you escalate somehow?

Thanks for the help. Yes I thought it odd too when I read "Case Closed" and them asking me to call them on a US 1-888 number when they knew I'm on AU.
Anyways, this is the comment left by support;

Hi Cavy
Welcome to the Community!
There was an issue with the RN200 series NIC on 6.9.x wherein the NIC tends to get hot and disables itself. The workaround was to shutdown the NAS and wait for a few minutes and turn back on to get it working. However, this should have been resolved since 6.9.5
If you have done Factory reset but still get this issue then it is a good cause for the unit to be replaced. Can you send me a PM regarding your contact information so we can have the case endorsed.
