Excluding files from backup

I have several backup jobs scheduled on my 102. The backups copy an entire share, or a subfolder within a share to a second ReadyNAS (a Duo v1).

I started getting a lot of backp errors caused by "thumbs.db" files  which periodically get locked out by Wndows 7 (seems to be a known issue). Deleting the offending files and re-running the job was a good workaround for a while but it quickly became a pain so in the end I turned off thumbnail creation altogether, however I am now missing having my thumbnails!! :)

In the Advanced tab of the backup job there is an option to exclude fils and folders which sounds like exactly what I need, but this is greyed out so I cannot use it to exclude "*.db". What am I missing?

(ReadyNAS 102 running  6.5.0)

The web ui includes all options for all backup methods, and unfortunately none of the advanced options are available when you use the windows backup method.

      Hi,

Not sure what you mean by the "Windows backup method".  I am using the web UI to view and change the backup job settings. I can see the + and - buttons for adding and removing file and folder exclusions, but clicking on them does nothing.

You picked the backup method (e.g. protocol) when you created the backup job.   Since you are backing up a windows share, you must have picked Windows (that is, SMB/CIFS).
