File search on ReadyNAS 6.9.1 doesn't allow searching home shares

The subject speaks for itself. I can search other shares, but not the users' "home shares." Is this a bug (or a feature)?

Hi jluros

 

This is not a bug, Home shares are actually created as a private folder for each user on the NAS and only the admin account will have access to it.

 

Even when you enable File Search feature Home folders is not available to be selected.

No, this doesn't help. It explains why this doesn't work, but doesn't explain why File Search (and Spotlight) on private shares is not possible. This is a business-class product, and should support file searching of public and private shares. The SMB protocol has supported user-level security and authentication and encrypted communications for years.

    does spotlight search work for you on shares other than home folders?

      I can't even get spotlight to work on any shares let alone home folders.  There is absolutely no help on this from netgear either.  very disappointing
