forked-daapd on ReadyNAS ARM
The default daap server (mt-daapd) doesn't support iOS, airplay etc. so I looked into some alternatives. I installed and configured forked-daapd (from apt) on my NV+ v2. It scanned my files fine and it shows up in iTunes (11) but when I try to load the music by clicking on the remote share it constantly displays a spinner icon and fails to load. The log file (debug level) shows the following:
daap: DAAP request: /server-info
daap: DAAP request: /login
and has nothing after that. I did a bit of a google and it looks like it expects a query string to be sent along with the /login request but iTunes 11 doesn't send that. Anyone figure out a solution for this?

- chirpaLuminaryNTGR added it in ReadyNAS OS 6.0 for the new ReadyNAS 100 series, maybe one day they will add it to the 5.x series also.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYes, I mentioned on my blog that forked-daapd is used in ReadyNAS OS. There have been attempts to make a forked-daapd add-on for 4.2.x and 5.3.x but so far they have been unsuccessful.

Did you test it with iTunes 11? I didn't get to it myself, it is still on my personal to-do list.mdgm wrote: Yes, I mentioned on my blog that forked-daapd is used in ReadyNAS OS. My ReadyNAS OS unit is a RN312.
- merticianAspirantJust to note that mt-daapd works with iTunes 11 for me on my NV+ v2, it just doesn't support the newer bells and whistles.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYes. Firefly (mt-daapd) on latest 4.1.x, 4.2.x and 5.3.x firmware works fine with iTunes 11. But Firefly is far more limited in what it can do than forked-daapd.

- merticianAspirantIs there source code for the version of forked-daapd that's on the apt repo?

It doesn't connect with my iPad though (remote 3.0)StephenB wrote:

The iPad pairs with the server, and lists the songs. But when you try to play one, you just get a second of silence.
The forked-daapd log says "daap: DMAP field 'com.apple.itunes.extended' is not a valid field in queries", which cascades to more errors.
