Getting a hold of ReadyNAS support

Hi there!   I had a power outage incident about a week ago. And ever since then my NAS is showing red for the volumes:

I'd like to use the recovery service (https://kb.netgear.com/69/ReadyNAS-Data-Recovery-Diagnostics-Scope-of-Service) because while I do have many things backed up, I have one share that wasn't (didn't have space at the time to back it up) that I'd really like to get back.

However, it tells me to open a case on line first before calling.  But when I select my product (RN316),it doesn't give me an option to open a case. When I call the number, it hangs up on me because I don't have a case! 😄

Is there another way to get a hold of support to have them try and recover the volumes?

Other posters here who have tried say no.  Support generally for ReadyNAS has been non-responsive for quite a while.

Often this issue is caused by lost writes that were cached/pending when the system crashed.  That results in an out-of-sync volume.

If that is the cause, it is possible to forcibly assemble the RAID array from ssh (or tech support mode if ssh is not enabled).  If you want to try that, we can give you some instructions.

Hi there StephenB !   I'll take you up on that offer! 🙂 I saw what you did for Markuzz on  https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS-in-Business/Volume-lost-on-ReadyNas-104/m-p/2319639#M199812, and I was going to ask you if that might be an option for me.

I do have SSH enabled and I can use root. So even if I can get the volume up in read only mode, I should be able to move that shares data off to another device (probably my RN204) and then rebuild my 316 NAS.

Just let me know the data you need, thanks!

The simplest is to send a full log zip file.  You'd need to put it into cloud storage (dropbox, etc), and PM me a download link.  There is some privacy leakage, so be sure to send the link in a PM.
