What NAS do you have, and what firmware are you running?
Mine appears grey when I reset the share default access to "disabled", but I can check the box for write-enabled anyway, and then enter information.

Hello curtisw,
Maybe your default access is set to Read/Write where you do not need to enter any users in the Write-enabled users field and groups for group -enabled groups field).
