Help with file premissions
Hi.
I am looking for a way to set file permission so that any user can create files and folders but can only edit and delete their own files..
Example:
User A create file 1.
User A has full permissions on file 1.
user B can read file 1 but not delete or edit.
User B create folder 2
User A create file 3 inside folder 2.
User A can NOT delete folder 2.
So basicly read any file, edit and delete only on files you created yourself.
And admin has full permission on all files.

Hi Leothlon,
With the given scenario that you posted, example #1 is more likely to happen but not example #2. Also, confirm the model of the ReadyNAS unit that are you using.
Kind regards,

NETGEAR Community Team - LeothlonAspirantHi.
I have the readynas 104.
Ok is it then possible to delete folders but not files?
So user A create empty folder 1,
User B can delete the folder.
User A create file inside folder 1.
User B can no longer delete folder 1?
Or something along those lines...- BrianL2NETGEAR Employee Retired
Hi Leothlon,
I thought this was the scenario based on your first post.
Example:
User A create file 1.
User A has full permissions on file 1.
user B can read file 1 but not delete or edit.If a user has read-write access to a folder or share, he/she will also have delete privileges. Just let me know if you have other questions.
Kind regards,
