HELP!

I've had the NV+ v2 for a few months now, it's quite happily sat under the desk looking after data, connected to the network serving files to a single Macbook.

Now I want to be able to hit the shares from an iPad on the LAN, no chance. ReadyNAS Remote isn't working and steadfastly refuses to do so. I also want to hit the shares from the Internet on my MacBook, again, no joy.

I'm here (finally after jumping through lots of byzantine netgear type hoops) pleading for help. Here's my set up:

o2 Wireless Box Router, handles all the IP Addressing and all that stuff - Apple Airport Express creates the wireless network (it's faster than the o2 Box) - Apple Airport Extreme extending the network and has the Ready NAS plugged into it.

Port forwarding set up and ports open on 21,80 and 443 using uPNP on the router.

I can see the ReadyNAS admin page from the internet and can log in.

Within ReadyNAS admin, when I go to switch on ReadyNAS Remote it throws an error out, in two graphics; the first says 'Internet Connection' with a red cross next to it, the other says 'Not Ready'. I don't have ReadyNAS installed as an add on and the ReadyNAS won't let me install it either. It tells me that 'the architecture is bad'

OK, so, that ReadyNAS Remote. Total and utter waste of space. I should be able to hit the shares by IP/Sharename though shouldn't I? No chance.

I have to say that in all my years of using computers, this is by far the worst thought out pile of junk I've come across. The name 'Ready'NAS suggests it's Ready to go - yet searching through these forums reveals all sorts of workarounds and hackery just to get them to work.

So, I have two questions;

1. How do I access my files over the internet with a Mac and locally with an iPad
2. Should I just have stumped up the cash for a QNAP?
