It's not the Readynas that's the problem really is it?
Perhaps you should try a different disk make/model. I found seagate and WD to be awful, so I stick to Hitachi, as they have been very reliable.
I also always run a full vendor disk assessment when I receive it. Any problems it goes straight back.
I also have multiple backups in case I have really bad luck, like you!
