You could try opening a support case at my.netgear.com but if the unit was purchased before August 21, 2007 it would be out of warranty. Also any damage caused by a power surge etc. wouldn't be covered by warranty.
If you can get the NAS to boot can you download the logs (Status > Logs > Download all logs). Any errors in diagnostics.log?
