How can I oppen a port?

Hi! I have a RN-314 nas and I open a port at port forwarding on my router, but the port isn't open. There are any protection which can close the port?

So the NAS settings don’t affect this?

    No, they don't.

    • How do you know that the port is closed?
    • Can you give more details on what application you are opening the port for?
    • Are you using a standard port number?

All ReadyNAS systems are end-of-life, and there is no assurance that there will be any more security updates.  The version of Debian used in the OS is no longer supported by the Debian community, so any new vulnerabilities would have to be back-ported by Netgear.

So port forwarding to the NAS does have risks - not something I recommend or do with my own NAS.
