You could alternatively increase the limit in Frontview beyond the 500GB limit currently set.
I tried that, putting in the ip address of my NAS and using the username and password of the time machine and it says there was an error connecting. I think that I have CIFS enabled, at least it's "colored" in front view for all of my other shares and I do see the NAS name with CIFS after the name in finder, as well as AFP.
