Today I managed to boot Debian 13 on a Pro6 via USB, enable ssh, and then do some fairly serious disc config stuff once I had the ability to cut and paste.
i installed 4 drives. Each partitioned 1GB, 2GB and ‘the rest’
on sda/b1 I put /boot as a RAID1 mdadm ext4
on sdc/d1 I put swap
on sda-d2 I put / as a RAID5 mdadm ext4
i installed grub on the flash internal drive so that the whole thing boots like it should.
after getting Debian installed, I added ZFS support, and configured ‘the rest’ of the drives
Then I sorted fan control and installed OMV for a nice NAS UI.
This was on my test mule without a display. I will try on another pro6 another day.
gotta replicate the whole thing to check my notes.
