I have a few old directories within the home folder which were set up for former users which do not exist anymore. Tried to delete these four folders but it doe not work.   What could I do to dele...

If the commands are entered correctly there shouldn't be a problem, but if you enter the wrong thing e.g. enter a * in the wrong place you could do a lot of damage.
