Improving Readynas 104 performance with Autodesk and Adobe applications

Not sure why you'd want ReadyDLNA in a small office.
If you are a Windows shop you can turn off upnp and afp. (You probably can do that even if you run Apple, since Apple has supported SMB for a long time).
I don't think these will improve performance much, but it's good practice to turn off services you don't need.
Services that have a bigger impact on performance:
-Snapshots/bitrot protection can create performance problems if there are a lot of files being updated in the share.
-Antivirus will slow performance.
BTW, if the Autodesk /adobe share is relatively small, you could install an SSD drive as its own volume, and put the share on it. That would certainly speed up random access to files.

Browsing folders is often slower than file transfer. I don't know of a good tool to measure that. However, it is often helpful to create subfolders if you have folders with lots of files in them.

I will run it on the two PCs when the staff leave for the day.
We have a pretty neat directory structure so no folder contains too much.
In the ReadyNAS admin interface, under System > Settings > Services, I have the following services running:
- SMB
- AFP
- ReadyDLNA
- UPnP
- HTTP
- HTTPS
I'm wondering if switching off any of these would help improve things in anyway.
