you can add them all at once.
generally its is best to start with one disk (because there is no resync to take time), to make sure everything is working and get the firmware updated.
once the firmware is current, power down, insert all disks and perform a boot menu factory default.
this way you start with the most current firmware image, and you avoid time consuming expansion/resync cycles by adding disks one at a time.
