Integrity of Time Machine backups over time?
Hi,
I wonder how frequent one should accept to redo a Time Machine backup (of say 100-200 GB) on a ReadyNAS 314? I have had ReadyNAS 314 now for soon 3 months using firmware 6.2.4 and needed to redo the Time Machine backup about every 3-4 weeks. I have three Macs and they do private backup so they are separated and the command to redo the Time Machine backups are not synchrnoized with each other. What to expect?
One aspect is that I use ReadyNAS encryptation of the volume I do backup on. Could that make the time shorter before the backup get "corrupet"?
I have before used ReadyNAS Duo for about 5 years and have used Time Machine backup there and perhaps got similar request to do backup from scratch every 6-12 months which I better can live with. My alternative backup on just separate stand-alone HD have much longer life time and can be more than 12 months (and also start to purge older bacups etc).
Someone else have similar experince as I have?
Can we hope that this issue will be better in ver 6.4.0?

Hi
I have reported the issue to the Swedish support site.
They say that they cannot find any other customer that found the same problem.
And further they hope it will be better with 6.4.0 but have not given any argument
of why they believe that.
If I should send you loggs of my system how do I do that?
I am not sure it is really proper to just post them here on the forum right?
And how close in time do you need the logg after I found the notification that
I must restart the Time Machine backup form scratch?
Right now it is about a week since I had this notification last time and I am about
to re-configure the whole NAS due the fact that the update to 6.4.0 changed the volume
where Time Machine backups are placed.... see the discussion under
/Using your ReadyNAS/Installation & Upgrade/Volume name?
Best regards

At 1 week old some logs would have already been rotated. There is a Sending Logs link in my sig if you want to send them.
I suspect there is an issue with Mac OS X that is causing this issue as I have seen occasional reports of this for some years now.
