is configuration preserved when moving disks to new hardware

(Not sure this is the right forum. I did some searching and even asked Netgear support, but no answer.)

My NV+ died. My friend has an NV+. I'm going to borrow it long enough to recover my data by putting my disks in his machine.

If I move all of my disks to the other hardware, I'm sure all of my data (files) will be preserved.

But what about the overall configuration? Will I need to reconfigure the network address, etc., or will that be preserved as well?

I do have a saved config zip file, will I need to restore that? And he'll need to save his config and restore it when I return it to him?

If I need to restore my config, do I do that before inserting my disks? Or do I insert my disks, boot, and then reload the configuration?
