Is there a need for Raidar?
I have single NV+ on the network , with fixed Ip. Is there any point to me running Raidar when I can access Frontview through a browser? Is it only with dhcp that Raidar is any value, even with multip...
RAIDar has some other uses, such as:
1. If NAS fails to finish booting usually you can see status under Info (far right column) in RAIDar.
2. When doing a firmware update you can see when NAS goes down and when the firmware update is complete
3. If you do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything) and want to change RAID modes between X-RAID and Flex-RAID.
4. On x86 (e.g. Ultra, Pro) and ARM (e.g. Duo v2, NV+ v2) when doing a factory default you can choose to do a secure erase. After the secure erase the NAS will shutdown
5. Good way to check status to see whether NAS is running normally.
Of course some of these you could also do by looking at the NAS itself, but I tend to not be in the same room as the NAS, so I like being able to use RAIDar to see where it's at.
