Is there an upgrade/replacement path for Ready NAS 102?
I'm not sure I've done these tags right ... I bought my unit in 2014 and I believe the warrenty expired last August. In November, I needed to get a new drive. The process was slow but effective!

A "risk buy" of a compatible power brick is worth a shot. If you google AD8180LF 332-10318-01 you will find several inexpensive options.
If that fails, then the RN212 is the currently shipping entry-level home NAS - faster and with more memory. You can directly migrate your disks to the new unit.

Sadly, I am back. The replacement power supply did not resolve my issues. Is it possible that I have a bad/failed upgrade? The lights on the unit look normal. I can hear the drives spinning. When the unit boots, the router gives it an IP address and knows it's a netgear device. But when I try to connect via http, that seems to throw the device off the network. Do you think I should look for instructions on updating the firmware via a memory stick? Also, it it possible to connect to the device without using a router?

Try powering down the NAS, removing the disks (labeling them by slot number), and then powering it up diskless.
Then see if RAIDar finds the NAS. It should report a diskless status. https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads#raidar
If that works, it suggests that your issue is with the disks, not the NAS chassis. (Note the system normally boots off the disks).

Lots of movement here to report. Booting diskless was a big improvement. I loaded OpenSuse 12.3 because it supports btrfs and tried to read the data from the drive. The OS reported a single partition that was not nearly big enough for all my data. On the idea that maybe that drive crashed in a really ugly way, I tried booting with only the 2nd drive (furthest from the buttons) and the NAS came back to life. Then I popped in a blank Seagate drive that I bought when I had a failure back in November and instead of taking week to resync like last time, it appears to be happy just overnight. But ...
RAIDar was able to see the device at one time but not now. What does that mean? Is it fixable? I'd like to look at the logs. I can login now to the admin interface but I don't see logs when I poke around.
The drive manufacturer was unfortunate. Perhaps I should buy a better quality drive as my next replacement? Any suggestions?
And I still have a concern about how I would get the data off if the unit had not come back to life. I will try to read my "degraded" drive from last November and I hope that will be successful. Otherwise, I'm left with the sinking feeling that my NAS is wonderful and my data is protected until suddenly... it isn't. Not a comforting thought.
