There's also the possibility of a compatibility issue. You may find with a newer NAS that Jumbo Frames works fine where it doesn't with your NV.
You will certainly get a much bigger performance increase from getting a new ReadyNAS (even without Jumbo Frames) than getting Jumbo Frames to work with your NV.
