The wandboard approach is worthy of investigation as a player replacement. That way I am not too worried if one of my players dies.
They are designed to be headless and controlled with the web interface or an ios or android app.
I replaced my NV+ with a 516 and am very happy with the performance.
I need the capacity for things other than the LMS repository and it is a bonus to have the capability.
