LMS support on ReadyNAS 100 / 300 / 500

Hello,
As a very enthusiastic user of Logitech Media Server on a ReadyNAS NV+, what are the chances that the latest version of LMS will also run on the new ReadyNAS 100 / 300 / 500.
I know that Logitech (unfortunately) abandoned the Squeezebox product family including LMS, however as I don't like to give upon these products I like to make sure the new ReadyNAS product line is an possible upgrade coming from an NV+.
Thanks in advance for an answer.

  • Should be fine, just needs updates to the add-on SDK installer they use.

The 100 is ARM based, like the Duo v2. The 300 and 500 are x86 like the Ultra/Pro. So codebase will run fine, its just packaging it all up.
  • That's excellent news, Chirpa. I will already download the ARM/x86 versions of LMS and wait with the final decision until someone here says: it works!
  • The 6.0 platform uses a new SDK for add-ons, so those old add-ons won't work right now. Logitech will need to modify it.
  • The question of LMS running on these devices is immaterial to me - I'm sorry but I just can't bite my tongue any longer - I was sucked into the Infrant/Slimdevices marketing BS years ago.

I own a ReadyNAS PRO & NVX - read more in the forum and see how Netgear treats it's current / on the shelf / in warranty customers. One quote from an owner was "Spit in the face". There are current issues with their latest and supported firmware for in warranty products (NVX) that renders them useless upon expansion - no FIXES but faint promises of soon come.

DO NOT buy a ReadyNAS unless you plan to:

BUY thousands of them - SOHO is not NETGEAR's forte
SIGN a long term support contract with NETGEAR - some of their ReadyNAS support tickets are still open after months of lost data & use
COMMIT to refresh your hardware platform EVERYTIME they bring out a new line - "Gee, old gear? F'you!"

I would RUN not walk away from any Netgear product unless you can - BUY, SIGN, COMMIT as stated above.

Would you like my Logitech/Slimdevices rant now? I didn't think so...

    Sorry
    Jim

Where can the new SDK 6.0 be found?

How Do I Participate In The Program?

The process for approval and the level of participation you would like to have in the program are up to you.

Registered developer. When you register as a developer and agree to the developer agreement and privacy policy terms, you can download the full SDK and get started.

Subscribed developer. The next step is to become a subscribed developer by paying $99 to the program, submit your tax forms, and agree to the payment policies. After you submit your tax forms, our accounts payable department will begin the approval process. You will receive an email from them when you are approved.
  • Hi Supertramp,

I have exactly the same question. From looking at the replies I'm not sure there was ever a definite answer. I currently have an NV+ and am thinking about replacing it with a 314, but running LMS (Squeezecentre) on the NAS is really important to me (yes I know I can run it on a Win pc or Mac and just access the music collection on the NAS but that's not want I want to do).

have you ever found out for certain if the 314 will run LMS?

    newt
