Locked Hard Drives

Hi,

About 2 months ago I bought ReadyNAS DUO. I put in there 2 x WD RE4 2TB.

Unfortunately, I had to change NAS to something faster so I sell this NAS (without hard disk).

Today when I try connect those drives to PC or other NAS I got "Please enter ATA password".

What? I don't lock this hard drives with password. I even know that readynas duo have this option.

Plese help me. How unlock my disks?

The easiest way would be to put the disks back in a Sparc ReadyNAS and do a factory default.

  • I ask buyer to send me back ReadyNAS DUO for 1-2 days to unlock my hard drives.

I just got package. I insert disks and make factory reset.

It stuck on "Disk initialization" for about 3 hours from now. How long it take? RAIDar shows IP: 192.168.168.168

I read that is problem with DHCP but dhcp serwer working fine.

I also tryied to connect directrly to NAS and change my Mac IP to 192.168.168.5

Ping's going, but can't access admin panel.

      Hi amator,

Thanks for the update. Have you tried using a different drive? Trying this would let us know if you have to try the workaround from the link mdgm provided.

      Kind regards,

        nope, I did't for now.

In mdgm link i read that he solve problem with rebulid xraid, so I try this for now.

        for i=0:15
                 password[i] = 0xbeef + i; // 2-byte short word
We use big-endian while Intel uses little-endian, so password
on PC may be: 0xefbe, 0xf0be, ... Sorry for picking up beef as password.

I don't know programming so I don't know what other combination will be. I try first 2 provides with no result.
