Perhaps download the logs and look for clues in those.
Is your NAS connected to gigabit router/switch or just a 100 megabit one?Well, didn't find any relevant information in the logs for now.
Do you have a specific one in mind ? will reproduce later on.
Even try a ping test via crontab with ifconfig eth0 down / up if failing, but doesn't seems to restore the network layer.
I'm using a TPLink Archer C5 (1Gbp) as router, and don't have any issues with desktop on Xubuntu.
