Lost a subdir within a share

The readynas is behind a private router, together with my laptop since I use this for my home business. It's a N600 Wireless Dual Band Router WNDR3400 from Netgear. And it's behind my internet router, where the rest of my family connects including a streaming device. It's also from Netgear, a N300 Wireless Router WNR2000 v3. Do I need to open both ports? If I do, when all is said and done, should I close the ports that I opened?
