Ok, so this is the original Duo and not the later v2.
Instructions for the OS reinstall are on pages 15-16 of the hardware manual:
Be careful not to do a factory reset by mistake, as that will destroy your data.
The reinstall will
- reset the NAS network configuration to use DHCP
- reset the NAS admin password to the default (which is netgear1)
You can access Frontview by browsing to https://nas-ip-address/admin (substituting the actual IP address for the placeholder nas-ip-address).
If you might run into the SSL protocol version/Cipher mismatch error.. The simplest workaround is to use Firefox. You'll need to set security.tls.version.min to 1 (browse to about:config and search for the setting).
Similarly, you need to have the SMB 1/CIFS client enabled in Windows to access the shares. You can find that in "turn windows features on or off".

Not necessary to track down old drive models. You can just use Seagate Ironwolf or WD Red Plus models (not WD Red).

Start by testing the replacement drive in a Windows PC. If it is Seagate, use Seatools to test it (running both the short and full diags). For Western Digital, use their Dashboard software.e
You will need a way to connect the drive to the PC - either SATA or using a USB adapter/dock.
