If you have a fast enough internet connection, you can also use cloud backup (for instance CrashPlan). Though that makes more sense for disaster recovery, since it would take a while to restore all your data.

Using the Pioneer as part of your overall backup strategy makes sense to me. You could hook up a couple of USB drives to the old NAS, and set up the Pioneer to back up all your data on schedule (some to the USB, some to the RAID array).
