My Readynas ultra 2 expansion experience
Went flawlessly!!
Config:
XRAID-2
From 2x250gig et 2x500gig.
Steps:
removed disk 1
waited for "RAID fail"warning signal
Added the 500gig, took 2-4 min to "see it"
waited 1 hour max for the RAID 1 rebuild
removed disk 2
waited for "RAID fail"warning signal
Added the 500gig, took 2-4 min to "see it"
waited 1 hour max for the RAID 1 rebuild
When the rebuilt was done, went to see the logs, told me to REBOOT for EXPANSION to OCCUR
After the reboot, the expansion took place slowly but surely.
Took anothe hour or so to complete.
WOW!

Pleased to see a report from someone where everything has gone to plan. - I've done it cuz I saw many people asking questions about it.
I understand too that no one wants to lose data in this process.
