MySQL causing disks to spin up contantly
Hi all,
I'm using MySQLOn to allow the use of the built in MySQL on my ReadyNAS 2100 with 4.2.17 (down from 4.2.18T6), and having turned off pretty much everything else (barring SMB), have come to the conclusion that MySQL is the cause for my disks constantly spinning up. The database on the box is not huge, it's 20MB - a shared database between two Kodi boxes running on Raspberry Pi's. Is there any way of making it serve this database from memory cache rather than spinning the disks up? It's to date never allowed the disks to stay spun down longer than 10 minutes!
Best,
Colin
No worries, I've moved the database to one of my other servers and removed MySQLon from the ReadyNAS - it's been happily sleeping for an hour now.
Sad that the thing that alterted me to an issue was the huge spike in my electricity bill - it used to sleep under 4.2.27 until I upgraded it to 4.2.28T6, downgrading had no effect. Still, the issue is in effect sorted now :)
Thanks!

No obvious way.
But you could perhaps connect a small USB drive, and put the database on it. Maybe back it up to the main NAS volume with frontview backup.
