Hi folks I have a ReadyNas Pro that I use as a media server. It dropped off my LAN-connected WD Live TV the other day (after, I think, me expanding the IP address range for my Billion 7800N - too ...

Well, there are two things you could try.
One is the direct-connect. The procedure is sketched out here: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how ... _pc_or_mac
Basically temporarily assign your PC a static address of 192.168.168.169 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
Connect your NAS directly to the PC ethernet card (a normal cable is fine).
Then you should be able to reach frontview with https:\\192.168.168.168\admin and see your shares with by entering \\192.168.168.168 in windows explorer. So you'd be able to see the logs, back up the data, etc.
The second is to try an OS reinstall. This will reset your NAS IP configuration to use factory settings, and will also reset your admin password to netgear1. It will not destroy your data (at least it should not). This is a boot menu option - http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how ... _boot_menu Use the instructions for your model.
