NAS104 and iTunes Streaming
I received a NAS 104 for Christmas. I have configured the system to allow for iTunes streaming. I am able to see the iTunes (NAS) server from the locale iTunes application. However, when I click on a song, then "loading url" modal is displayed but the song never plays.
I read on another forum that the NAS 104 cpu might not be faster enough to decode streaming audio and video.
Will someone please confirm, if the NAS 104 can stream iTunes audio.
--Cheers,
Brian

Worked like a charm! Thank you (I wasn't even aware betas were available until you made the suggestion. So thanks!)StephenB wrote: I haven't tried using VLC as a DLNA client, though I have seen old reports on their forums that it suggested it didn't work that well.
I just tried VLC as a DLNA client because iTunes either wasn't working, or isn't that great as an iTunes server client (for example, it keeps forgetting my music is on the NAS). With iTunes going it's not such an issue.StephenB wrote: The big issue is the lack of home-sharing support, which cripples use with iPads, iPhones and Apple TV.
What's home sharing? Would that fix my "iPhoto doesn't really cooperate with me having all the photos on the NAS" problem? (Suggestions for an alternate photo management tool are welcome!) - StephenBGuru - Experienced User"home sharing" is an itunes feature. http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201976

Hello there, where can I get a copy of 6.2.3 beta? (same iTunes/Yosemite issue to solve)
Thank you

- geoffl1AspirantHi,
I've lost iTunes again. I updated to 6.3.3-T153 and that fixed things for a while, but I guess I must have accidentally updated iTunes again and once again, it finds nothing on the NAS. Since this seems like a permanent cat-and-mouse game, can anyone suggest a music player that works nicely with a 102?
Thanks in advance,
Geoff - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI don't think there's been an iTunes update that's broken the iTunes server compatibility since the compatibility issue was addressed by 6.2.3/6.3.3.
Can you send me your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?
Are you still running the beta firmware?
Can you update to 6.3.4? (note while the release notes say it is for the 200 series only it is early access for the 100 series. It will install. Since you're already running 6.3.x firmware you may as well give it a try): http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27498/~/readynas-os-version-6.3.4-(readynas-200-only) - geoffl1AspirantThanks! I've sent the logs and will try the 6.3.4 final firmware.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSee how you go on 6.3.4. If you still have the problem on that send a fresh set of logs.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredRemoving the iTunes Server database, forcing a new one to be generated resolved the problem.
