Need help selecting backup/RN features #24580559
Ok, I am having some difficulty translating RN features into function ;) I have ReadyNAS 316 16TB RAID6 in XRAID2 mode. I have created some shares and mapped a windows 7 drive to backup a bunch ...

1. Automatic (realtime?) backup/replicate of Windows laptop directory to RN
-You can back up windows on the NAS using its default backup job function:
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detai ... ows-backup
2. Any type of backup solution for Android devices (photos, files, notes, etc)
-ReadyCloud app for android should be able to do this, also check readydrop.
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detai ... 6-remotely - ReadyCloud
https://readydrop.netgear.com/login/ind ... F24A5CC5F8 - ReadyDrop
Also you might want to check this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... tils&hl=en - NAS Utils for ReadyNAS
3. Cloud storage and availability from laptop/Android/Linux variants/adhoc (from any machine by supplying proper login)
-There is a ReadyCloud Client app for windows
https://readycloud.netgear.com/client/index.html
It seems when I use NG's support/FAQ/KB/etc all the 'downloads' that seem like they would be a Windows Client software simply open up Frontview :(
When I browse network devices on my Win 7 machine and select RN316, instead of opening it to shares, it launches the Frontview webpage interface. Ugh!
-I think you are talking about the Raidar software here, raidar is used to monitor the NAS and of course to access the UI
A question about RN's Cloud services. Is the RN316 providing the Cloud access directly, or via NG's servers? I purchased the RN316 so I didn't have to rely on any external company's servers for storage, security, or access.
-As far as my understanding goes, it makes your NAS a cloud storage server. If your NAS is offline, your cloud is gone.
