Need help with ReadyNAS Pro expansion

I need assistance with making a 6th drive expand on my Pro Pioneer Edition with Radiator RAIDiator 4.2.21 (just updated to from .20)

I had (4) 1TB Drives for quite sometime and recently purchased (2) more 1TB to max out the six slots.

I wasn't aware that I should have done 1 drive at a time, but inserted both at the same time. I also tried the following the recommendations:

1) Unchecked both Disable full data journaling and Disable Journaling checkboxes
2) Unchecked Enable disk spin-down
3) Unchecked Disk Scrubbing and Online File System Consistency Check
4) Rebooted multiple times with Check and fix quotas on next boot and still I get a maximum of 3688 GB

I get this in the VOLUME SECTION:

Disk space

2265 GB (61%) of 3688 GB used

RAID Configuration
Configuration: RAID Level X-RAID2, 6 disks
Status: Redundant
RAID Disks:

Ch 1 : WDC WD10EADS-00P8B0 [931 GB]
927 GB allocated

Ch 2 : WDC WD10EADS-00M2B0 [931 GB]
927 GB allocated

Ch 3 : WDC WD10EADS-00M2B0 [931 GB]
927 GB allocated

Ch 4 : WDC WD10EARS-22Y5B1 [931 GB]
927 GB allocated

Ch 5 : WDC WD10EADS-00M2B0 [931 GB]
927 GB allocated

Ch 6 : WDC WD10EADS-00M2B0 [931 GB]
927 GB allocated

I expect to have at least 4.6TB of free space!

Any ideas?

  • The first step I always try is rebooting it with the new drives in. it is looking like just one fo the drive didnt sync up. What is it telling you for the drives in RAIDar?

I've tried rebooting with the drives in a few times. RAIDar's Volume Tab shows what's above:

    Disk space

    2265 GB (61%) of 3688 GB used

    RAID Configuration
Configuration: RAID Level X-RAID2, 6 disks
    Status: Redundant
  • I don't have a solution for you but here is my similar setup with six 1TB drives:
Disk space: 2628 GB (73%) of 3593 GB used
Additional 100 GB reserved for snapshots
Configuration: RAID Level X-RAID2, 6 disks (with dual redundancy)
      Status: Redundant

Note that my setup is using dual redundancy.
