When you first make a snapshot it uses no space. Every time a block changes in the LUN, the snapshot space goes up by a block. So the required snapshot space depends on the usage pattern.
With BTRFS it's good to maintain about 15% free space, and that's what you started with (with no snapshots). So maybe add another 4 TB drive to the array?

It depends entirely on what the changes are at the block level how much space snapshots will consume. It could be not a lot, or it could be quite a lot depending on how you use the LUN.
