Thanks for your advice, but believe it or not I have done something similar which unfortunately did not work.
I changed all the default names of the shares I created from their defaults of 'nas-xx-xx-xx (192.xxx.xx.xx)' (N:) to 'nas-xx-xx-xx (NAS001)' (N:).
Unfortunately, a new share with or without IP seems not to work but, at sometime soon, I will try your particular variation to on my ReadyNAS share names to see if it works.
