New compatible 3TB hard drive not detected by Ready Nas 2-Bay RN212
Hi, I have just newly purchased a readynas 212 2-bay diskless along with compatible 3TB hard drives (WD30EFRX) however when going through the setup the ReadyNas says it is unable to detect the hard ...

Hi Ashk
It would be best to get it replaced by the seller since it's brand new. I would not advise taking chances to make it work and since it's not getting detected then there's nothing to do anymore.
most likely mishandling is the cause or just unfortunate timing. :(
Hope this helps!

Hi Marc,
Thank You for your reply, I did check the drives by connecting them to the computer they do not appear discoverable, I just tested another smaller 160GB drive into the NAS which has been detected. It is hard to believe the that 2x 3TB could be faulty, or is there a way to get these drives to appear in disk management or the NAS system?
Regards
Ash

Use WDC's lifeguard software in the PC. https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?p=3&lang=en
If that doesn't detect the drives, then it is likely that both were dead on arrival. That can happen - one possibility is that they were mishandled during shipment.
You'd want to exchange the drives with the seller - if you RMA them to WDC you'll get re-certified drives with a shorter warranty.
If it turns out to the the ReadyNAS, you'll want to exchange that with the seller also. But if the NAS is detecting the SSD drive, it's more likely to be the disks.
