"Not enough space on NAS..."
**Can't find the correct thread to post this in, so please move it if it shouldn't be in here**
Problem: I'm unable to transfer large files onto my NAS2000, I keep getting the not enough space error. I have two 2tb hard drives installed with only a few albums on so definitely not full.
I'm guessing it maybe the way the drives are formatted but am unable to find anyway of choosing the format..
The drives are formatted in raid-0 as I have the originals on my desktop pc and the NAS is just used for streaming to Squeezebox/XBMC etc, so anything else is not needed...
Cheers,
Jamie

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe frontview home page tells you the amount of space used on the volume.
For instance "Volume C: Online, X-RAID2, X disks, YY% of ZZZZ GB used"
What does yours say? - drgonzoishereAspirantVolume C: Online, RAID Level 0 , Single disk, 0% of 1845 GB used
Volume D: Online, RAID Level 0 , Single disk, 0% of 1845 GB used - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
OK, so the volumes are there and are empty. What share are you writing to?drgonzoishere wrote: Volume C: Online, RAID Level 0 , Single disk, 0% of 1845 GB used

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou mean backup and media? Or something else? Since you are using two Raid 0 volumes, each share is on one specific volume.
I don't recall off hand how to tell which share is on which volume (my 3 NAS are all set up with one volume).
Assuming you are writing to folders that are listed in the "shares" list, maybe you should open a support case. - drgonzoishereAspirantYeah the media folders (music/video) Basically I'm just dragging a folder from my main computer to the NAS, so I don't have to have my computer on when just wanting to listen to music or stream films to the XBMC.
It seems strange that it only seems to be files bigger than 5gb though.. - dbott67GuideWhere are you seeing this error message? On the NAS (logs, Frontview, RAIDar)? Or on your PC when trying to copy over?
If it's on the NAS, I suspect it's actually the root volume that's full, not the data volumes. This issue can arise when a log file goes nuts and starts to fill up the root which is only 4 GB.
If you're familiar with linux and have SSH installed, you can check the status of the root volume by issuing the df -h command:ReadyNAS:~# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/md0 4.0G 362M 3.5G 10% /
tmpfs 16K 0 16K 0% /USB
/dev/c/c 2.7T 207G 2.5T 8% /c
In the above example, /dev/md0 is the root volume (indicated by / under the "Mounted on" column) and /dev/c/c is my data volume (2.7 TB) mounted on /c.
If you're not familiar with linux, contact support and they should be able to help. - dbott67GuideFurther to my message above, can you also post some additional details -
- Version of RAIDiator on your NAS (4.1.8, etc.)
- Client OS (Windows XP/7, Mac, etc.)
- Protocol used for transfer (CIFS/SMB, AFP, FTP, etc) - drgonzoishereAspirantI'm using:
4.1.8,
PC Win7 64bit,
and basically just dragging and dropping like this screen grab shows..
- drgonzoishereAspirantSeem to have got it working now... I created two new folders on the root of the drives c:\music and d:\movies instead of putting them into the media folder that is already setup by default.
Its now letting me transfer the full 1tb of data (although rather slow at 13 m/b second and its connected directly onto my LAN port on the computer :-/ )
Cheers for your help guys!
