NV+ 4.1.10 upgrade failed
I have just had a similar problem to others on here after upgrading their NV+ to 4.1.10 - unit says 'Booting....' and then just hangs indefinitely with no sign of activity and cannot be seen RAIDar. ...

One last follow-up from me on my situation... After getting my NV to boot up by swapping out the larger SODIMM and other futzing, and loaded some new data and started an incremental backup. The NV became nonresponsive during the backup and would not respond even after multiple reboots. I think that my mistake was asking the NV to dump its logs while the backup was running.
So, I did a USB downgrade of the firmware to 4.1.8. This didn't correct the trouble so I did a firmware reinstall (press back reset button while powering up, release at first blink) -- like the USB downgrade this is an action that doesn't affect configuration or data. That firmware reinstall put everything right and I am back on 4.1.8.
I have turned off notifications for newer firmware releases. I will leave this device at 4.1.8.
My imepetus for upgrading to 4.1.10 was to get ReadyNAS Remote working again -- it broke when Netgear upgraded the ReadyNAS Remote service on their server. I have also simply turned off that add-on and I have resigned myself to no longer being able to remotely access the NV.
Netgear has really screwed up with their latest softare upgrades: RAIDiator and ReadyNAS Remote. The product itself is solid--I have never lost any data--but their current software guys need to be replaced.
One final PS: after the NV became non-responsive the second time, I opened a ticket with Netgear support. Given that my NV is 8 years old, I must admit that they were very responsive and were willing to remote into the NV and try to get it working again. I have ultimately declined their help and gone back to 4.1.8; but, I do appreciate their willingness to promptly support an 8 year old NV.
