NV+ can't connect to Lion shares
Sorry if someone has already gone over this but I looke all around in the forum and could not find a solution.
I have a NV+ (RAIDiator 4.1.8 [1.00a043]) which is the primary file server on my network. I used to back it up daily using the built-in backup feature to on of my Macs, which is now running Lion (10.7.2). Since the Lion / 4.1.8 upgrades, the NV+ can't connect to the Mac anymore. I get the following error on the NV+ log:
"Unable to access remote path //192.168.100.51/NAS01_backups/ppcunha. [Job 005]"
I have already checked and rechecked everything but must be missing something as I cannot fix the problem.
Any clues or tips ?
Thanks,
Pedro

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredLion is the problem here. The NV+ is an SMB1 server/client whereas when you do Windows File Sharing using Lion, the client must be an SMB2 one.
One workaround would be to follow this tough guide: http://www.johnlarge.co.uk/2011/07/19/osx-lion-samba-smb-shares-broken-xbmc-not-working/
Another would be to change to using NFS rather than CIFS. This would also involve a bit of work to get working. Read up on NFS if you are not familiar with it. - YuriAzulAspirantSame problems here, just since a days now *suddenly actually* I can no longer connect using AFP to my NV+ (with 2x 2TB WD drives).
I can use the shares through CIFS, but I cannot use TimeMachine any longer. Rebootings systems only helps to help find the timemachine share on the NAS, but nothing happens, besides "Preparing backup..." ... and then dead.
Checking the File Sharing options does not help, nor does checking the com.apple.applefileserver.plist file; seems to be in order...
HELP, any one ???? - ppcunhaAspirantmdgm, thanks ! I will try the Samba workaround.
Any chances of getting SMB2 on a future RAIDator release ?

Not same problem at all.
What version of RAIDiator are you running?ppcunha wrote:

I think that is very unlikely considering how old the version of samba currently used on the NV+ v1 is. - YuriAzulAspirantThis is my config:
Model: ReadyNAS NV+ [X-RAID]
Firmware: RAIDiator 4.1.8 [1.00a043]
Memory: 256 MB [2.5-3-3-7]
Connecting to the shares through CIFS works just fine, but AFP just won't do it (anymore); actual Immediate response: "There was a problem connecting to the server"
My current "work around":
1. in Frontview, under Backup, TimeMachine, uncheck the "Enable Timemachine" checkbox
2. Apply settings
3. Re- check the box
4. Apply setings
5. Tell TimeMachine to "Backup Now"
An hour later, for the next backup, timemachine cannot find the disk...
I am clueless about what is going on. Thanks for any help! :( - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredUnder Security > Security Mode, what mode are you using?
Have you tried opening a tech support case (http://www.readynas.com/support)?
