NV+ v1 XRAID replacement hard drives 3x500GB to 2x2TB
Sorry for my grammar. I am writing by google translator.
I have a NV + v1. I have the 3 disks (3 x 500GB) in XRAID. It gives me a 919GB capacity.
Is it possible to change 3x500GB to 2x2TB? I need more space.
Can I just turn replace the discs and the volume itself will be rebuilt? After that, I'm afraid that will alarm the missing third drive.
My plan is:
1st bay: 500GB-->2TB
2nd bay:500GB-->2TB
3rd bay:500GB-->empty
4th bay:empy-->empty.
You will need to start over (requiring you to back up your data).
The steps are
(1) Note any add-ons you have installed. Remove any add-ons you don't want anymore. If you have third-party add-ons make sure you have the binaries.
(2) back up your existing data and save your configuration file.
(3) Update the firmware to the current version (4.1.14 or 4.1.15-T3 beta). Very old firmware might not support 2 TB drives.
(4) Power down and remove the existing disks (labeling them by the slot number)
(5) Install the new drives (unformatted) and power up the NAS again.
The NAS will then automatically do a factory install. It might not be reachable for a little while.
(6) Complete the NAS setup procedure (either with RAIDar or logging into Frontview directly)
(7) reinstall any add-ons you decided to keep.
(8) Restore the configuration file you saved in (2)
(9) restore the data from the backup in (2)
If google garbles this or if it isn't clear, please let us know and we can try to say it a different way.

All I understood, even without google translator.
Thank you very much for the quick and professional answer. That's why I like Netgear. My FreeNAS is long after the warranty and Netgear continues to provide support. Well done!
For now, I buy next (fourth) 500GB disc. I hope this is enough for the next year. For the next expansion I'll buy a new model of FreeNAS.
Greetings from Poland.
P.S.
I always have the current version of the firmware. It's important for me.
