NV+ v2 poor performance

I agree the NV+ v2 should be faster - something is likely wrong. Though I don't own one, so I usually can't offer much specific troubleshooting advice on that model.
Did you try turning flow-control on in the PC NIC? Also, did you check the SMART stats?
If you purchased this new, you could contact Netgear support and see if you can get an RMA.
