NVX Pioneer vs Ultra4
Hi all,
I've been running an NV for a couple years now with 3x1TB and am thinking about an upgrade. The performance of the NV is fine for my needs, but I would like to try running Crashplan and Subsonic on the NAS, which I believe both the Pioneer and Ultra4 can handle (unsupported).
Any major differences between the two, assuming I can find used ones in the same rough price range?
I believe I cannot just put the drives from my NV directly into either of the newer models, correct? And I noticed that one of my drives (WD1001FALS) is not on the HCL for Ultra4, but then again, it doesn't seem to be on the NV HCL either, and it's been running fine.
For anyone running Crashplan or Subsonic on either of these models, are things pretty stable or is it still very much something you need to tinker with on a regular basis to keep them working?
Thanks!

Yes. NVX Pioneer is discontinued while the Ultra 4 is not. NVX Pioneer is 32-bit versus Ultra 4 64-bit. Unless you can get the NVX Pioneer at a significantly lower price than the Ultra 4 avoid it. You may also wish to consider the Ultra 4 Plus and the Pro 4 which have a dual-core Atom CPU.hokieguy wrote:

Correct. Best to get new drives from the compatibility list and transfer your data across your network and keep the NV to backup your new main NAS.
