OS 6.6.1 and OS 6.7.1 - Can't create new directory via FTP on external USB device
Hi I've searched the forums but not managed to find anything similar, so here's my problem: A friend who has a USB HDD (formatted NTFS) connected to one of my ReadyNAS units for off-site backu...

Thanks for your reply.
I've just double-checked and nothing has changed in the permission settings so that's not the cause.
I mentioned in my OP the workaround that we'd been using whereby I would create a new directory for my friend locally via the web GUI, and although I ddn't actually state it, my friend is then able to copy/create new files into that (or any other existing) directory.
Something new to add to the description of the behaviour which I've only just tried is that it is possible to rename an existing directory via FTP.
Edit: I just noticed it's also possible to delete a directory via FTP.

So 4 weeks have passed since my OP and it's disappointing that NetGear haven't bothered to reply either to say they have investigated the reported behaviour, or to confirm that it exists.
As the workaround described was becoming too tedious to perform, I've had to re-format the USB HDD from NTFS to EXT4 which was something we didn't really want to do, so thanks for your help and concern NetGear. :manfrustrated:

Thanks for your reply and the offer to try a BETA 6.8.0, but no thanks.
I'm not going to risk a BETA OS given the flurry of dodgy 6.7.x NON-BETA versions of late, and as I pointed out above, I've re-formatted the HDD in question from NTFS to EXT4. Perhaps when there is a proven-stable version of 6.8.x ...
