We're hopful that this issue is fixed in 6.8.1 Beta 1, which is posted in the Beta section of the community. Please report whether this works for you if you have a chance to try it.

6.8.0 firmware version is not yet available on Readynas download server, you will need to download the firmware from our support site and manually upload the firmware to the NAS.

That explains why I didn't see it in the updater, thanks.
Initial results from upgrading the firmware last night appear positive - I haven't had the UPS message yet, whereas before it was a daily occurance. Thanks for the help guys.
Ahh, I spoke too soon. The error occured again overnight.

Give Netgear folks a chance to respond. In the meantime, I suggest looking at the pattern:
- see if the frequency drops with 6.8.0
- see if these alerts are triggered at particular times or events (for instance disk spinup).
If you keep a USB disk connected, you could also try removing it for a while, and see if the pattern changes.
How is the UPS connected to the NAS? Does the UPS have a USB port?
Can you send in your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?
