Plex version on OS 6 not compatible with Windows 8 Plex
I have just paid for the Plex client on Windows 8 only to find that when I try and connect to my ReadyNAS OS 6 (RN516) it gives the following message:
Available 0.9.7.16, 3 connections.
Server must be 0.9.7.17 or higher to be used.
Is there a way of upgrading the plex server without having to wait for Netgear to release an updated version with a future firmware update? If not I feel that tying the Plex server into the ReadyNAS firmware will really slow down the release cycle, although saying that, the version that came with the current ReadyNAS OS 6 devices isn't that old, I cant believe that Plex have put such a restriction on the Windows 8 client.

- It's gonna have to be on Plex to provide a third-party installer. Even NTGR's upcoming release still has 0.9.7.16.462 in it.
- Sent you PM regarding PlexPass build 0.9.7.26.548.
- I think Windows 8, Android and possibly iOS clients are all using the Beta builds which are only available to PlexPass subscribers. Plex should make that clear on their website, I don't think they do. The betas are accessing new features only available on the new Plex Server betas, so you have to run a beta server with them. They just released 0.9.8.0 this week.
