Pro6 back to Readynas after using alternative OS
Hello, I've had my Readynas Pro 6 running FreeNAS quite happily, but now I want to go back to ReadyNAS. I've used OS4 and OS6 in the past, but will opt for OS6 I think. I have VGA breakout and a...

That's amazing cheers. I have multiple Pro6s here, so I can duplicate from one of those. Any tips on how to do that? Is it possible from within a shell prompt within readynas firmware/OS6, or will I need to fire up an alternate OS?

You can't see the internal flash from within the NAS OS. An external OS from USB is probably your best bet, as that also gives you a place to store the file. I believe you can see it if you telnet into it in support mode, but I've not actually done it and am not sure you could mount a USB on which to place the image.

OK, so I've managed to snag a backup off of the internal USB drive, from another one of my Pro 6's.
Initially this seemed to be 'corrupted' and would not boot. Fortunately I also copied the files into a folder too, so overwrote all the files, and now it's booting into OS6 fine.
The duplicate serial number is obviously now the only remaining problem.
You mentioned a mod that might be able to do this? I've kindly been offered some paid support, but it does sound like there are a few Netgear folks around who will occasionally do this for people..
Any idea who I PM?
cheers for all the help so far!
