Problem streaming over USB

Yes I am connecting over Ethernet. The streamer plays fine over Ethernet to 96k. It just drops out (like a sort of buffering problem I think) every few seconds when it trys to play 192k files.
The manufacturer says that you can only play 192k using USB or other Digital input.
I was hoping I made be able to "spoof" the player on the ReadyNas to accept USB Media input (to just play the 192k files).
Perhaps the supplier (Cambridge) may provide a software upgrade to allow the playing of 192k over ethernet which would resolve the problem. However, for the short term I am trying find out if there is another way I can do this.
I could plug the Streamer into my PC (defeats the object in my opinion) and use the special USB driver to allow me to stream 192k from the NAS. However, I cannot see that being a tidy solution.
