Promoted Snapshots
I am running an RN526X with firmware 6.6.1. After a lot of help from this community I got the snapshots working correctly. My system takes a daily snapshot of all of the shares (except the Home fol...

They are all the same. One of the daily snapshots isn't deleted (becoming the weekly one), and one of the weekly ones isn't deleted (becoming the monthly).

Perhaps manually prune the really one ones, and wait about a week to see if the February snapshots are pruned. The processing might not clean up old missed snapshots.
You could easily switch to custom snapshots - there is no thinning, but there is a setting to prevent needless snapshots (when there are no changes to the share contents). You can limit total retention, which is something that you can't do with the smart snapshots.

I have disabled disk spindown and will see what happens tonight. Either way, I am confused by what the Snapshot page says and what I would be seeing.
Is there some naming convention that distinguishes a daily snapshot from a weekly snapshot or monthly snapshot? Do all the folder look the same? How do I know which are daily, weekly and monthly?
The Snapshot screen says:
- Daily snapshots are kept for a period of 4 weeks
- Weekly snapshots are kept for a period of 8 weeks
- Monthly snapshots are kept forever.
Does that mean that you could see daily, weekly and monthly snapshots in a folder at the same time?

David

I just wanted to check in to let you know that the Daily Snapshots have not been pruned to a weekly snapshpot. They continue to run every day but are not being promoted to a weekly or monthly level.
Not sure what else to look at.

Me either.
You might need to shift to workarounds
-create a new share, copy the contents, and start over with smart snapshots
-switch to custom snapshots with fixed retention for a while, and then try switching back to smart snapshots.
-turn off snapshots altogether, and then try turning them back on.
Both involve losing some or all of the snapshots you have now.
Perhaps send the log zip to mdgm-ntgr, he might find some clues in there.
