The answer's going to be related to product positioning and life cycles. If N could do it, they still might prefer not to as they want customers to upgrade/switch to the new stuff. One of the rules of Product Management is to increase the cost and reduce the support to old products - this is consistent. It's also another step in the transitioning away from the ethos of Infrant.
